Neil Buchanan was born in Aintree, Liverpool, in the shadow of Liverpool Football Club. Neil Buchanan and his sister were raised in a loving home, but like lots of other families in the area, money was often tight.

The young Neil Buchanan loved cartoons and “lived inside the Beano” and even used to stick his cartoons onto the telly, so they were brought to life by the flickering TV screen.

Like lots of other young boys from Liverpool, Neil Buchanan dreamed of being a professional footballer. However, it was the streets and his imagination that created the stage for him to ‘win’ some of his greatest Cup Final victories and travel on some of his greatest adventures.

Five decades later, those same streets and that great outdoor adventure playground, have provided the inspiration for Neil Buchanan’s HOPE STREET.
