I was born in Cheshire, England, later studying at Stockport College of Art. following which I spent an informative period in Advertising. Eventually I took the plunge and & entered into the world of free-lance Illustration, acquiring a high profile London Agent & gained a continuing reputation as a figurative & fashion artist having clients both National & International.
Finally, together with my beloved dog & cat, I moved to Ireland, living in the countryside enjoying the peace and isolation from where I could concentrate fully on my Fine Art painting.
A love of travel & varied experiences took me to many countries in Europe & North Africa.
My inspiration can come from the transience of nature or the intriguing social exchanges, the impact of light falling, intertwined with complex shadows & reflections always gaining an endless perfection of colour & shape
I travelled widely around Ireland, gaining inspiration for my work, and whilst the landscape has always been an inspiration, I was also intent on people lost in private moments, music bars, horse fairs & the inevitable horse racing scenes.
Eventually returning to UK & the glorious Pembrokeshire coast & countryside. I am here inspired by my daily walks with my dog, natural forces on the shoreline, rocks, stone walls, knarled trees grasping to hold onto the banks by the waters line ; after the storms my walk is softened by a carpet of seaweed and flotsom, then continuing up the bridle path to the open , windswept, sunshine softened fields. In Summer a mass of waving wildflowers, in Winter an angry whistling wildness.
In Spring an insistent burst of life will fall across my world, translating to my canvas’s a new joy a fresh, vibrant fullness of awakening.
The organic textures found in these weathered elements create a tension & balance always perfect, revealing a mystery of growth & decay, life & death.
